Gone Country

First off, I have never been a huge fan of country music. There are always a few artists that I like, especially with some of the classic stuff. Also, in the 90’s there were several artists I liked, Clint Black, Allen Jackson, Tim McGraw, Dwight Yokum, etc. Well, me and my wife (Paisley) were in Nashville last week and I figured out the reason I haven’t been more into country. Country music was meant to be listened to live in a honkey-tonk! It was an amazing time. It was our first time in Nashville besides just passing through. I was amazed at the number of artists performing. In every bar and hotel lobby someone is playing music and most of the time it is really good. One of our favorites was Jes Justice at Lucky Bastard salon. She took request and played everything from Fleetwood Mac to Jackson by Johnny and June Cash (our request 😊). One of the funniest things that happened on the trip happened at Honkey-Tonk Central. We were sitting at a table right next to a bachelor party. Somehow, they took us in and we became part of the bachelor party. They were buying us drinks and telling us stories like we had been friends for years. Honky-Tonk central was one of their first stops. They were heading to Kid Rock’s next, but it was past our bedtime, so we checked out early. Really fun group. So now me and Paisley are all in. We bought hats, boots, clothes, the whole 9 yards. We have already planned our next concert and bought tickets. We are going to see Chris Stapleton in St. Louis in July. Yee Haw! That’s enough for the music update now a little whiskey news!

I scored huge on two bourbons that I will review coming soon. When I got to Nashville I was meeting up with Paisley and she was coming home from Japan. Before she left, I told her to be on the look out for a Four Roses release that was only available in Japan (Four Roses Super Premium). I sent her pictures and descriptions of what to look for. Well not only did she find the Four Roses, she also got me a bottle of Blantons Single Barrel. I am not sure if this release is any different than the Blantons SB found here in the states. I think it may be the same juice, just in a bottle with Japanese writing. No matter, the fact Blanton’s is hard to find here, and the Japanese writing alone make it a special bottle to me! I have had small samples of both, and they are both REALLY good. Reviews to come soon.

Such a fun trip to Nashville! So excited to find the four roses and the Blanton’s in Japan for you. Thanks to my buddy Pierce for helping out with the find! While I’m not a big Whiskey fan, they both smell great!
